In the beginning five talented young musicians from Ballarat,
Victoria, Australia combined their passion for music to form
in September 2006 the alternative/rock/pop outfit Girl Vs
Ghost (Girl Versus Ghost). Armed with sweetly melodic yet
urgently powerful vocals, heavily contrasted with electric
guitar that unites pop with alternative rock, Girl Vs Ghost
create an instantly catchy sound that has a positive vibe
guaranteed to make you smile.
With influences and inspiration from bands such as Straylight
Run, From First To Last, Matchbook Romance, Panic! At The
Disco, Silverchair and Eisley, among many others, Girl Vs
Ghost are able to incorporate elements of melodic indie pop,
heavy, alternative rock, soaring string and symphonic effects
to create a sound that is uniquely theirs. The current line
up of Joel “Frosty” McLean (17) on bass guitar,
Time (18) guitar, Dylan ‘Dyl’ Jones (18) driving
the beat on drums, Tristan ‘Trist’ Waight (18)
lead guitar and the powerful and sweet vocals of Amber ‘Amby’
Morris (19) are creating an ever increasing interest from
people.
Enthusiasm and anticipation underplay the excitement that
Girl Vs Ghost feel about working with Australian Rock Company
Ltd (ARC) to perform at the first Live@Lunch gig anywhere
in Australia. The band is primed and pumped about playing
at Damascus College, Senior Campus, Mt Clear on August 23rd
2007 as well as being able to work with the VET Music students
from the Campus. It is rare that students get to work with
a ‘real’ band and put theory into practice. Girl
Vs Ghost are pleased to be able to start the gigs rolling
for the Live@Lunch program.
