The
Spazzys
BIOGRAPHY
A couple of years ago, three young Melbourne punk rockers
finished their HSC and pondered what to do with their lives.
Quite adamant that they didn't want to work nine to five, or
end up flipping burgers at some junk food joint, the girls decided
that the best option would be to start a band.
The
only problem with that was that none of them had an instrument,
let alone knew how to play one. After making a democratic decision
as to who would play what (Kat - guitar; Lucy - bass; Alice
- drums), they set about figuring how to play their instruments
by listening to their favourite bands (Ramones; Radio Birdman;
The Ronettes; Jan & Dean and Mach Pelican).
Next
step was to write a song. Starting from the ground up, they
set to creating their own brand of Spazzy punk/pop, wearing
their influences proudly on their collective sleeves.
Performing
live was the last piece of the puzzle and seemingly one of the
most difficult pieces. Getting gigs wasn't the problem, however
sneaking out of the house and not getting caught by their parents
was, as their oldies didn't know they're in a band....(they've
only just found out)!
Over
recent times, The Spazzys have been tearing up Melbourne's vibrant
live scene with their brash, energetic overdose of three chord
power chaos that has seen them become one of the rainy city's
best loved bands.
Sweeter
than thou harmonies, combined with a furious energy and a truckload
of undeniable pop hooks, The Spazzys have recently supported
The Buzzcocks, The Dwarves; The Datsuns; The D4; the 5,6,7,8's;
The Meanies, Rose Tattoo, The Casanova's, The Hard-Ons, Gerling
and Blondie.
They
have just signed with brand new independent label FUR Records
and will release their debut album Aloha Go Bananas' in
the coming months. In the meantime, as they are about to hit
the road with Warped on a Triple J promoted tour; they offer
you one of their live favourites, "Let's Get Spazzy."
