Hi, Jay
The Snakehouse, eh? Ex crocodile farm, you say?? Sounds like a perfect
place to put a big bunch of children! Do you think we could muster up
a few croc.s to do peripheral security? That would be effective!
Anyway, to answer your question. Yes ARC is happy to work with private
promoters as well as NFPs. The only criteria is that all kids are allowed
to go to all shows we're working on. If you run a bar, which doesn't exclude
under 18's from attending shows, then that's fine, too. I think that is
the way of the future, really. Licensed/all ages shows. It doesn't happen
often and it's a real pity because the system we have now, which is effectively
apartheid, simply doesn't work.
I am a bit embarrassed to report that i don't have much of a grasp on
Queensland bands. If you could please do me a favour and pass our web
info on to any that you come in contact with we would very much like to
hook up with them. (In fact, if you look at the "Q" section
on www.arc.au.com you'll see we haven't found any bands whose names start
with Q (yet), so I thought we might just put a whole bunch of Queensland
links, in there, at some stage.) That said, there are always bands touring,
so we are happy to include your shows in our emails to the industry (we
have about 900 people - players, management, bookers, record co. people,
etc.) to see if anyone else might be available to play, for you. Do you
want us to ask bands if they're around your part of the world, for your
November date? ... tho I'm guessing you have that lineup confirmed...
If any bands you know can make it to Monto (N. Qld) for September 30th,
there is a promoter there looking for acts. He hasn't had much luck, yet,
so he'd love to hear from them...
ARC would be very pleased to post fliers for that show, and any other
'general access' events in the events section, at any time.
Re. production, i will include your request for assistance, in our next
industry email, in the next day or so. I lined Bondi surf club with egg
cartons, for a show, once. Every time anyone hit a drum the walls rattled.
It was a complete disaster! But, hopefully, we live and learn.
If you are a private company ARC membership is $50 a year. If you are
a business, it's $20. Bargain! If you want to sign up and send money,
we always appreciate that. If you have no money, it doesn't matter, really.
We'll still help, wherever we can.
We'll stay in touch.
all the best
